Old Faithful, the Yellowstone geyser known for its fairly regular eruptions, is the subject of this stereograph card published in Philadelphia by George W. Griffith around 1902. The Washburn expedition of 1870 gave the geyser its name, and Yellowstone had become the country's first national park only a few years earlier, in 1872. Cards like this were sold in large numbers for viewing through a stereoscope at home, so the geyser reached audiences far from the Rocky Mountains.
