Few caricaturists would place a Danish physicist and a Hollywood-era comedienne on one sheet, but Al Hirschfeld did so here, pairing Philip Bosco as Niels Bohr from Michael Frayn's play *Copenhagen* with Claudia Shear as Mae West in *Dirty Blonde*. Hirschfeld spent decades capturing Broadway performers in spare, flowing lines, and this drawing, rendered in ink and gouache, shows how easily he moved between two very different stage worlds: a tense wartime debate about physics and a playful tribute to a famous performer. The sheet is dated 2000, and it was later included in the Library of Congress exhibition *Al Hirschfeld: Beyond Broadway*.
