Its Dutch title, "Snelle en geriefelijke overvaarten" (fast and comfortable crossings), makes the poster's pitch plain: it sells the Ostend to Dover ferry as a quick, pleasant way to reach England. Printed in Antwerp in 1946, it appeared just as cross-Channel travel was returning after World War II. The route tied the Belgian coast to the British rail network, so the poster also speaks to the postwar push to bring tourists and business travelers back to Belgium. Designed by Guy Depière and printed by L.F. De Vos & Co., it is a good example of the bright, simplified style Belgian travel posters used in the late 1940s.
