Laliberte's fur parlor in Quebec, as this 1906 stereocard titles it, claims to offer "the finest in the world," a boast typical of the commercial showrooms of the period. The card's subjects point to a business dealing in hides and skins and displaying taxidermy, reflecting a fur trade that had been central to Quebec since the French colonial era. Stereocards like this were sold in sets and viewed through a hand stereoscope at home, so the image served as both a record of a local business and parlor entertainment. Its publisher, C. H. Graves, and the copyright held by W. S. Smith mark it as a commercial product of the early twentieth century.
