The title on this glass negative places its subject at the White House and names a Gen. J. Haverback Wilson, though part of the caption has rubbed away and the wording is unverified. The National Photo Company worked in Washington during the 1910s and 1920s, making portraits and views of the city for visitors and officials, and this plate is dated to about 1924 from others in its range. Look for the streaks and faint blemishes across the surface, which may come from the natural breakdown of the original coatings on glass plates of this age.
