A couple stands at the White House in Washington, D.C., in a glass negative that the National Photo Company made around 1924. The title names them as Mr. and Mrs. John D. Prince, but the record notes that this name comes from unverified data written on the negative or its sleeve. The studio, which worked in Washington in the early twentieth century, photographed the city's landmarks and sold views of them to visitors and residents. The glass also shows streaks and other blemishes from the natural breakdown of its original coatings, which are worth noticing when looking at the image.
