Ellis P. Passmore of Philadelphia was photographed at the White House on December 19, 1924, according to a notation on the negative sleeve that has not been independently verified. The National Photo Company was a busy Washington studio in these decades, making portraits of tourists and out-of-town visitors in front of the city's landmarks. Calvin Coolidge was in the White House that winter, so the executive mansion would have been a familiar backdrop for such pictures. Streaks and blemishes in the glass come from the natural deterioration of the original coating.
