At 16 by 74 centimeters, this is a long, narrow strip rather than the usual upright recruiting sheet, and its title borrows the rhythm of a marching song, promising that enlisting means joining a crowd already on the move. The Parliamentary Recruiting Committee issued it in 1915, when Britain still relied on voluntary enlistment and before conscription arrived in 1916. It was printed in color lithography by Beck & Inchbold of Leeds and London, a firm that produced many posters for the war effort.
