This Spanish Civil War poster argues that raising output on the farms and in the factories strengthens the fighting men at the front, and its slogan makes that link in a single line. The Ministry of Public Instruction's Directorate General of Fine Arts in Madrid issued it sometime between 1936 and 1939, during the Republic's struggle against the Nationalist uprising that began in July 1936. The lithograph's focus on farmers reflects how the Republic relied on food and industrial production to supply its armies. Posters like this one were a major way for the government to reach civilians and urge them to support the war effort.
