Here the Spanish army is named alongside the Requetés, the Carlist volunteer militia, and the Falangistas, all presented as allies at the front. The Requetés had long fought for traditionalist causes in Navarre and the Basque country, while the Falange, founded in 1933 under José Antonio Primo de Rivera, was a newer fascist-leaning party. Their cooperation in 1936 reflected the uneasy alliance of forces that rose against the Republic that summer. The arrows and symbols recorded in the catalog reflect the Falange's visual language, and the poster's appeal to blood and sacrifice shows how Nationalist propaganda framed the war for its supporters.
