Among the Republican posters of the Spanish Civil War, this one addresses the physical condition of refugees who arrived from Málaga and how they were cared for. The city fell to Nationalist forces in February 1937, and many thousands of people fled east along the coast road toward Almería, often on foot and under attack from the air and sea. Issued by the propaganda office of the Generalitat de Catalunya in Barcelona, this color offset lithograph was meant to build public sympathy and support for relief work behind Republican lines. It is catalogued as one of a numbered series of Republican posters.
