Cómo ayudar a los hospitales de sangre," or "How to Help the Blood Hospitals," asks viewers to support the field hospitals that treated wounded soldiers close to the front during the Spanish Civil War. Printed in Valencia under the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo and the International Workingmen's Association, the color lithograph dates from between 1936 and 1939, when labor and political groups on the Republican side produced many posters to rally civilian backing. Its focus on nurses tending the injured shows how the war turned medical care and donated blood into a public cause.
