Campos y fábricas, para los sindicatos!" ("Fields and factories, for the unions!") is a call to hand the land and workplaces over to organized labor. The poster was printed in Barcelona for the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (CNT), the anarcho-syndicalist union, and it reflects the collectivization wave that swept Catalonia after the military uprising of July 1936, when union committees took over many farms and factories. Its catalog record lists flags as a subject, a reminder that red and black banners were the visual shorthand of the CNT and its allied anarchist movement. The poster offers a direct view of how the war was being fought on the home front, not only at the front lines.
