A swastika sits at the center of this appeal, linking the prisoners held in Nationalist-controlled territory to the German support that helped Franco's forces during the war. The poster was issued by Socorro Rojo Internacional, the leftist relief organization that raised money for political detainees and the families they left behind. Its direct call to "hand in your donation" reflects how much Republican-aligned welfare work depended on small contributions from supporters in Spain and abroad during the conflict of 1936 to 1939.
