Standing stones on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England, are the subject here, photographed by the American artist Paul Caponigro. The picture comes from a series he made at the site between 1967 and 1972, later gathered into a portfolio titled *Stonehenge* in 1978, and this print is numbered 8 of an edition of 60. Caponigro was known for quiet, tonal landscapes that look for the older rhythms of a place. His Stonehenge work turns a familiar landmark into something closer to a meditation on time and stone.
