Two of the younger Roosevelt sons, Archie and Quentin, are the focus here, shown at Sagamore Hill, the family home on Long Island where Theodore Roosevelt raised his large household. The print is a photoprint copyrighted by the photographer Edward S. Curtis, who was better known later for his portraits of Native American peoples, and it is dated to about 1904, the period when Roosevelt was president. Its record comes from an old caption card, so the identifications and date are unverified, but the picture still offers a glimpse of the presidential family away from Washington.
