Quentin Roosevelt, the youngest son of Theodore Roosevelt, is shown hunting for June bugs on the grounds of Sagamore Hill, the family's home on Long Island's North Shore in Oyster Bay, New York. The photograph dates to about 1904, the year Roosevelt was in his second term as president, and it was made by Edward S. Curtis, better known for his later documentation of Native American peoples. Because the record comes from an old caption card and is not fully verified, the exact date is best read as approximate. The image offers a relaxed glimpse of the Roosevelt children at home, away from the formal demands of the White House.
