This stereograph shows Theodore Roosevelt with members of the Notification Committee and their guests at Sagamore Hill, his home in Oyster Bay, New York. Committees like this one traveled to a nominee's home to formally announce the nomination, and in 1904 the visit came after Roosevelt had been chosen as the Republican candidate for the presidency that year. Stereo cards such as this were made as a pair of nearly identical images, which a viewer's stereoscope combined into a single three-dimensional scene.
