The Library of Congress catalogs this glass negative under the name Dr. Christopher Addison, a title taken from caption data the Bain News Service supplied and not independently verified. Addison was a British physician turned politician who became the first Minister of Health after World War I. The Bain agency sold news photographs of public figures in the early twentieth century, and plates like this one show the working material of that press trade. No date is recorded, so the occasion of the sitting is unknown.
