Taken from the air in 1945, this view shows the Nakajima Aircraft Company's Musashino plant in the city of Musashino, on the western edge of Tokyo, under attack. Nakajima was one of Japan's largest makers of aircraft engines and airframes, and its Musashino works were among the industrial sites American B-29 bomber crews struck during the final year of the Pacific War. The photograph comes from an album titled *Precision Targets*, a compilation of images of specific industrial objectives that shows how closely U.S. planners tracked and assessed these factories.
