An aerial view of the Daimler-Benz works at Sindelfingen, a town just outside Stuttgart, captured during a daylight raid by the Eighth Air Force in September 1944. The plant was known for automobiles and trucks, but it also built aircraft engines, which made it a target for American bombers striking southern Germany in the war's final years. The print comes from an album in the Carl Spaatz collection, and its caption card has been revised over time, so the exact date and other details should be treated as provisional.
