Photographed at Scapa Flow, this view shows the German battle-cruiser *Hindenburg*, which the record misspells as "Hindenberg." Completed in 1917, it was the last of the Derfflinger-class battle-cruisers. After the armistice of November 1918, it was one of the German High Seas Fleet ships interned in the Orkney Islands under British guard. The caption dates the picture to about 1919, when the ships were still waiting there. In June 1919, rather than surrender them to the Allies, the German crews scuttled their vessels, including *Hindenburg*.
