This bird's-eye view shows Baltimore as it looked in 1912, drawn from an imagined vantage point high above the harbor and streets so that rooftops, church spires, and rail lines spread out across the city. The firm of Norman T.A. Munder & Co., a Baltimore house known for panoramic city views, is named in the record alongside Spofford & Hughes and Edward W. Spofford. By 1912 the downtown core was being rebuilt after the Great Baltimore Fire of 1904 destroyed much of the business district, so the map captures a city in the middle of that recovery. Viewers today often look for familiar neighborhoods and waterfront streets, which show how the city's layout has changed over a century.
