A fraternity house of the Nu Sigma Nu chapter at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor is the subject of this dry plate glass negative, made sometime between 1900 and 1910. The Detroit Publishing Company, which operated from the 1890s into the 1920s, produced thousands of views of American towns, resorts, and campuses, often sold as photochrom or halftone prints. Fraternity houses near the university were a common sight in that era, as Greek-letter societies expanded rapidly on American campuses and built or rented residences for their members. The 8 x 10 inch format gives the house a clear, detailed record of its architecture and street setting.
