This Alpha Delta Phi house stood on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor, where the national fraternity, founded at Hamilton College in 1832, had a chapter. Fraternity houses like this one served as residences, meeting places, and centers of campus social life. The Detroit Publishing Company, known for photographing American towns, campuses, and scenic sites in the early twentieth century, made this 8 x 10 inch glass dry plate negative, probably between 1900 and 1910. The record also notes that the State Historical Society of Colorado gave the negative in 1949.
