This bird's-eye panoramic map shows Key West, the island city at the southern tip of Florida, as it looked in 1884. Henry Wellge drew many such city views in the 1880s, and this one was published by J. J. Stoner and printed by Beck & Pauli. Key West was then a busy port and one of the largest cigar-making centers in the country, with many workers who had come from Cuba. Its streets, harbor, and waterfront are laid out in fine detail, offering a useful picture of a town built on shipping, fishing, and the cigar trade.
