A formal dinner for a governor's party at Basin Camp sets this view apart from the many scenic views of Yellowstone on the board. J.E. Haynes of St. Paul, whose studio supplied much of the park's commercial photography in the early twentieth century, made the picture. Around 1919, the park was drawing more motorists and tour passengers, and officials were often hosted there to publicize it. The date and some details come from an old caption card and have not been independently verified.
