Silver Bay's landing on Lake George is the focus here, a dock where visitors arrived and departed around the lake in the early 1900s. Around 1904, Lake George was a popular summer destination, and steamboats and rail connections brought tourists to its hotels, cottages, and camps. The print comes from the Detroit Publishing Company, whose photographers traveled widely to record resorts, scenery, and towns across the United States. Its wharf and waterfront views show how important the lake's steamboat traffic was to the summer economy of the region.
