A bathhouse on the shore at Silver Bay, on the eastern side of Lake George in New York, anchors this view, with the Adirondack mountains rising beyond the water. Silver Bay became known in the early 1900s as the site of a summer conference center associated with the YMCA, which drew visitors to lakeside programs of recreation and swimming. The picture is from the Detroit Publishing Company, a firm that sold scenic views of American places to travelers and rail companies in the decades around 1900. The catalog gives its date only as a question, so 1906 is a working estimate.
