Labeled on its card as the scene of the tea party, this stereograph shows the Old South Meeting House on Washington Street in Boston. Its brick walls, completed in 1729, held the crowd that gathered on December 16, 1773, before a group marched to Griffin's Wharf and dumped tea into the harbor. Though it was built as a meetinghouse for a congregation, British troops later used the interior as a riding stable during the occupation. Saved from demolition in 1876 and opened as a museum, it became one of the best-known stops on the Freedom Trail.
