Few buildings in Boston carry as much Revolutionary history as the Old South Meeting House, the Puritan meetinghouse completed in 1729 on Washington Street. In December 1773, thousands of colonists packed its walls to protest the tax on tea, and the meetings held there helped set the stage for the Boston Tea Party. This stereograph, issued by the Keystone View Company of Meadville, Pennsylvania, around 1924, was made to be viewed through a stereoscope, which gave the church and its street a sense of depth. By then the building had been preserved as a historic site, and it still draws visitors today.
