Mount Pleasant House, visible at the left edge, anchors this view of a boy driving from the ninth tee at the Mount Pleasant golf links in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. The hotel was one of the grand summer resorts of the White Mountains, where wealthy visitors from Boston and New York spent their summers in the early 1900s. Golf was becoming a fashionable resort pastime at that time, and many hotels laid out courses to attract guests. The Detroit Publishing Company, which photographed American resorts and scenery for postcards and travel albums, made this 8 x 10 inch glass plate negative between 1900 and 1905.
