Here a stagecoach is shown pulling away from Yosemite Valley with Bridalveil Fall in view, a pairing that puts the valley's most familiar waterfall beside one of its working transport links. Before automobiles and the rail line that reached Merced in 1907, horse-drawn stages carried most visitors up the rough grade into the valley, so a departing coach was a routine sight for tourists. The picture was registered for copyright around 1906, and it captures the valley as travelers of that era experienced it.
