A log house in Virginia, with girls and boys among its subjects, is the focus of this glass negative, though its title comes from unverified information the National Photo Company wrote on the negative sleeves. The company, based in Washington, D.C., produced large numbers of views of American towns and rural life in the years around 1920, many for postcards and printed publications. The date range, between 1918 and 1920, is inferred from neighboring negatives in the same group. Look closely at the surface, where streaks and blemishes from the deterioration of the original coating are visible.
