Children at the Harding & Community House are the subject of this glass negative, dated April 18, 1921, about a month after Warren G. Harding took office as president. The title and date come from notes the National Photo Company wrote on the negatives or their sleeves, and the record marks them as unverified. The company worked in Washington, D.C., from about 1907 to 1932, recording city life and civic scenes, and this plate came to the Library of Congress as a gift from Herbert A. French in 1947. Viewers may notice streaks and blemishes, which come from natural deterioration of the original coatings on the glass.
