Two women, Mrs. Harding and Mrs. Laurence Lewis, are the subjects of this glass negative, which the National Photo Company dated to January 25, 1921. The Mrs. Harding named here is most likely Florence Harding, whose husband, Warren G. Harding, was then president-elect and would be inaugurated in March of that year. The National Photo Company worked in Washington, D.C., photographing officials and public life, and its glass negatives were given to the Library of Congress in 1947. The record notes that the title and date are unverified and that the glass may show streaks from deterioration of its original coating.
