Opening into three panels, the Hassan Triple Folder catalogued as T202 carries the caption "Wheat strikes out" across its center, a reference to the baseball player whose name appears on the card. The American Tobacco Company issued these folders in 1912 as inserts in packs of its Hassan cigarettes, a common way for tobacco makers of the era to reward buyers and promote their brands. The card's color was produced by relief printing combined with halftone, which gives the image a soft, layered look that is worth studying up close.
