Ceremonies at the Capitol on February 22, 1927, honored George Washington on the anniversary of his birth, a date the nation marked with public observances throughout the capital. The National Photo Company documented Washington's streets, public buildings, and civic events in large numbers during these decades, and its glass negatives remain a key record of that work. The plate shows streaks and blemishes from natural deterioration of its original coating, which are worth noticing when viewing the image.
