Few French wartime posters address the wounded as directly as this 1917 call for a National Tuberculosis Day devoted to veterans. Signed by Lévy-Dhurmer and printed as a color lithograph, it supported the campaign against tuberculosis, a disease that spread among soldiers and former servicemen whose lungs had been weakened by trench life and gas. A second issue exists with the design printed in reverse, so the soldier appears on the left, which shows the image was reproduced in more than one state. The poster's appeal lies in its focus on men who had already served, asking the public to support their care.
