Titled "Sauvons-les" ("Let us save them"), this 1917 French color lithograph by caricaturist Abel Faivre promoted a national day of fundraising for soldiers who had contracted tuberculosis during the First World War. Many men returned from the front with lung disease, and charitable campaigns like this one helped pay for their treatment and care at sanatoriums. Faivre, known for his sharp, expressive draftsmanship, was among the most prominent French poster artists of the war years, and his work used emotional appeals to rally public support for the wounded and ill.
