A silkscreen poster from 1937 that promotes art education in Cincinnati, Ohio, this piece was produced under the Federal Art Project, part of the Works Progress Administration. The WPA employed artists during the Great Depression, and its poster division used screen printing to advertise public programs, including classes and community activities that offered free or low-cost instruction. Posters like this one show how the New Deal tried to keep artists working while bringing creative training to ordinary citizens. The verso date stamp of April 1937 places it in the program's most productive years.
