Evora and Porfirio, the two children of P.A. Bonet, commercial attaché of the Cuban legation, were photographed on January 16, 1920. Their father's post tied the family to Washington's diplomatic community, which was active in the capital after the First World War. The picture is a glass negative from the National Photo Company, whose studio recorded the city's officials and society over several decades. Streaks and blemishes in the coating reflect natural deterioration of the original plate, so the image shows its age.
