A group of children at a ball game is the subject of this 1921 glass negative, and the title was supplied by Library staff because the original record carries no caption of its own. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C. studio active in the early twentieth century, documented city life in many images, and pickup baseball was a common pastime for children of that era. Because the negative is on glass, it may show streaks and blemishes where the original coating has deteriorated, so some of the marks you see come from age rather than from the scene itself.
