Three of the four glass negatives that make up this panorama of Binghamton, New York, survive in the collection, and the right center section is missing. Each plate measures 18 by 22 inches, a mammoth size that let the photographer record fine street and building detail across a wide sweep of the city around 1900. The Detroit Publishing Company produced many American town and city views for sale, and its panoramas were prized for showing local streets, businesses and skylines in one continuous scene. The negatives carry the company's own numbers, which tie them to its catalog of the period.
