Two glass negatives, the left and right center sections of a four-part panorama, show a stretch of the Hudson waterfront at Albany, New York, and the outer sections are not part of this record. The Detroit Publishing Company made mammoth-plate panoramas like this around 1890, large negatives that recorded wide river views in fine detail. Albany was a busy river port at the time, and the steamboats and waterfront activity that crowded the Hudson are worth looking for along the edges of the scene.
