Glenmorag, a glen near the resort town of Dunoon on the Cowal peninsula, sits across the Firth of Clyde from Glasgow, and Victorian holidaymakers reached it by steamer. This print comes from the photochrom process, a color method that used a series of lithographic stones and hand retouching to imitate a painted view. The Detroit Publishing Company sold photochroms like this one in the United States, and the catalog number on the record places it in its 1905 listing. The view is typical of the scenic landscapes the firm offered to travelers and armchair tourists of the period.
