Few pictures on this board show police work through a television screen. This one records a closed-circuit broadcast from Police Department headquarters on center Street in Manhattan to Brooklyn Police Headquarters on Bergen Street, where a mock lineup was shown to officials. Mayor Wagner and Police Commissioner Francis Adams are shown watching the broadcast in February 1954. Television was still new to most households then, and using it to present a lineup across boroughs was an early experiment in how police could handle identifications without moving people between offices.
