Few of the Brooklyn pictures on this board show a working building, and this one shows the Albertype Co. plant at 250 Adams Street in 1945. The firm was known for printing picture postcards, a mass medium that was still going strong in the mid-twentieth century, when American tourists and servicemen sent cards from nearly every town they passed through. The photograph records the factory's street face as a place of industrial work in a borough that was then full of printing shops and small manufacturers.
