Inside the Albertype Co. plant at 250 Adams Street in Brooklyn, a press room full of heavy machinery shows how picture postcards were made in 1945. In the mid-twentieth century, postcards were a high-volume trade, and printers like this one ran large sheets of identical views through their presses to supply shops, hotels and tourists. The title was devised by Library of Congress staff, so the scene is best read as a record of the working shop floor, as part of the Wittemann Collection.
