This silkscreen poster advertises *Native Ground*, a Federal theater Project production by Virgil Geddes, and its subject tags point to farming and plows, so the rural imagery is central to the design. The Federal theater Project was one of the arts programs of the Works Progress Administration, which employed artists, writers, and performers during the Great Depression. Its posters were produced by the Federal Art Project in New York, and this one bears a date stamp of January 5, 1939 on the back. Its bold color blocks reflect the screen-print style that the WPA's poster units used to promote their theater and public events.
